Careers

Elizabethtown Public Library is a Team of employees and volunteers who seek to make a difference in the Greater Elizabethtown Area. We are helping people Make Their Dreams Come True. We are stimulating learning, literacy and the acquisition of knowledge by providing educational, informational, and recreational books, resources and programs. Because we believe in the power of literacy, learning and putting that learning into action, we believe that everyone can choose to be informed, grow into their highest potential and make a difference for good.

Each Team member has an important role in bringing Library services to our community. All positions, volunteer and paid, require a complete application for consideration. Background checks are required to continue service with the Library. Some positions have more requirements, these requirements will be listed along with the post or in a related link. Our goal is to provide the best possible programs and services in a safe and inviting environment.

Employment opportunities are listed below. Thank you for your interest!

Employment Opportunities

Coffee Company Barista:

The Coffee Company Barista connects with the public, crafts specialty beverages, and helps fulfill the big vision of the World Café program.

Serve our community by engaging customers and fostering an atmosphere of connecting and learning; provide prompt service of quality food and beverage products so that customers have an excellent experience and come back frequently to the Coffee Company and Library.

The current opening is part-time with the following hours (subject to change): Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and two Saturdays a month from 8:45 am – 4:15 pm. There are a few exceptions to these hours for special events, etc.

Team members must pass a criminal and child abuse background check and fingerprint clearances.

Identity Services Team Member:

The Identity Services Team Member will help people make their dreams come true primarily as a fingerprinting agent and secondarily a passport agent. Fingerprinting agents ensure enrollees are who they say they are and take their fingerprints for a variety of background checks that are generally required for employment or volunteering. Passport agents answer questions related to passports (and the Library), schedule appointments, take passport photos, accept applications, and other related tasks.

This position is part time and would consist of around 25 hours per week. It also requires training and certification as both a fingerprinting agent and passport agent. Continued employment will be dependent on the candidate’s ability to pass both certifications and required background checks for employment.

The Library provides these services as part of our revenue generation. Funding for Libraries in Pennsylvania is different than in most US states. Because of this we need to raise money through fundraising and revenue generating services like fingerprinting and passports.
